Road to Recovery

Step 4: We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

On Wednesday evening we begin a journey together, a journey down the road of recovery. This journey begins with Principle 1 where we admit our lives are out of control.

David wanted to "Give" as taught in one of the later step study lessons. David is giving and serving in a number of areas in the church. In CR he is leading the Men's Step Study that started on Feb 3rd. When we give and serve as David is doing, we are putting Principle 8 into action: "Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and by my words." David participated in the "cardboard" testimony at Garden Ridge's CR Sunday on Jan 6th. On the "Past" side of David's piece of cardboard he indicated that he had been "Unfaithful" to God. On the "Current" side he indicated he now feels "Forgiven and Loved."

I think now that God placed it in my heart, but somehow I knew that if I was to have any measure of victory that I needed to really DO the 12 steps, and the only way that I could find to do them was to join a Step Study.

How do you make it through the tragedies of life? Don was 7 when his dad died. His young wife died in an auto accident along with the unborn child she had been carrying for just 4 short months. He married a second time, then suffered a back injury that resulted in being addicted to pain meds and eventually losing his family.
